About the Watch
The most iconic Nautilus reference in the collection today is the "5711", which has held its designation since 2006. However, before that, its predecessor was the 3711, with the current model being the rare white gold reference 3711/1G-001. Introduced in 2004 and often referred to as "The Jumbo", the 3711 was a more modern iteration, featuring a see-through caseback and a movement that bore the prestigious Geneva Seal certification. It was in production for only about two years before being discontinued with the release of the 5711/1A in 2006.
The Nautilus collection originated from the creative mind of the late Gérald Genta. Notably, Genta sketched its design in just five minutes while dining in close proximity to Patek Philippe executives. In contrast to the conventional discreet luxury watches, exemplified by shiny objects peeking from shirt cuffs, both the Nautilus and the Royal Oak defied norms. Their large matte cases, featuring pronounced bezels with subtle shine on polished bevels, deviated from the traditional aesthetic. The Nautilus, drawing inspiration from hermetically sealed portholes on transatlantic ocean liners, showcased a rounded octagonal shape. This stood in contrast to the Royal Oak's eight-sided octagonal bezel, inspired by deep-sea dive helmets.
This particular 3711/1G has been serviced by Patek Philippe and is offered with its instruction manual, product literature, leather folio, outer packaging and fitted presentation box.
